Performance Colors - 8 lipstick shade swatches

Nothing to disclose, I purchased the products shown.

I purchased a bunch of lipstick samples from Performance Colors  a while back, and finally got to swatching them.  Valentine and Vertigo are both Semi Matte Opaque lipsticks, while the other 6 shades are all Restorative Lipcolors.

All shades swatched on bare arm using a lip brush.  They can look a bit darker applied directly from the tube using some pressure.

Color descriptions are from Performance Colors:

Valentine is a highly pigmented opaque full force deep dark and mysterious classic valentine blood red rose color.  This is a semi matte opaque which goes on very smooth and creamy, not the usual stiff matte.

Vertigo is highly pigmented opaque dark violet brown color  This is also a semi matte opaque, goes on very creamy and smooth.

French Red is a supersaturated, warm red carpet red.

Ruby is highly pigmented, cool ruby red like the burmese ruby gemstone.

Beaujolais is  highly pigmented, in deep mocha with purpley red tones, semi-sheer.

Black Cherry is a deep berry red color full of red sparks.

Black Rose is a very black red packed to the max with red sparks that catch the light.

Vamp is a highly pigmented, dark gothic black-purple with slight red tone, semi-opaque.

These are all nice and creamy (even the mattes!) and feel wonderful.  I hope you've found the photos helpful, and thanks for looking!

LORAC Rockin' Red Hot Lip Gloss Collection Swatches

Nothing to disclose, I purchased the product shown.

I picked up the LORAC Rockin' Red Hot Lip Gloss Collection at Kohl's for $27 the other day.  Kohl's coupons don't apply to this brand,  but I was mesmerized by the purple gloss and had to buy it.

Swatched on bare skin.  Photo taken by the window, no flash, kind of overcast.

Here's the color descriptions on Sephora.com, my thoughts in parenthesis:

Rock n' Roll is pink nude (with subtle multi shimmer)
You Rock is plum (more a deeper dusty pink, subtle multi shimmer)
Rock On is rose (with subtle multi shimmer)
Rock Star is an exclusive violet shade (I see a pale lilac, no shimmer)
Easy Rock is fuchsia (I see cotton candy pink, no shimmer)
Rock It is coral (a warmer coral pink, more distinct multi shimmer than the others)

4 of the shades - Rock n' Roll, You Rock, Rock On, Rock It - seem as if the color is completely blended into the gloss base, it's solid.  The other two, Rock Star and Easy Rock, are much more sheer and when I hold the tubes up to the light and remove the lid with attached brush applicator, it almost seems as if the color is not completely part of the gloss.... it seems like there's blobs of color within the tube that aren't fully mixed in.  I realize I'm not accurately describing this, but suffice to say I'm disappointed with both of them.  I bought the set because I loved the way the two shades looked in the box, so how's that for irony?  Oh well, just goes to show that sometimes you're happier with shades you don't think much of, and the ones you look forward to don't live up to your expectations.

I hope you've found the swatches helpful, and thanks for looking!

MAC Punk Couture Winter 2013 lipstick - Studded Kiss, Instigator, Punk Couture, Hautecore swatches

Nothing to disclose, I purchased the products shown.

Yesterday I posted swatches of the four shades from the Punk Couture collection, which were applied on bare skin using a lip brush, two light coats.  I did my usual by the window, no flash.  It was snowing out.

I redid the swatches today, applying both with the lip brush and then applying directly from the tube, going back and forth and applying some pressure.   Pictures are again no flash, by the window, but today it's sunny and they're a bit brighter.

I was disappointed when I saw the color on my arm yesterday, and then wanted to kick myself when I redid them and saw how much more intense they were when I skipped the brush.   The edges are a bit gloppy from the tape, sorry.

Anyway, I hope these swatches are much more helpful than yesterday's.  Thanks for looking!

November Recolor with Manic Panic Violet Night, Pravana Chromasilk Black

My November recolor was exactly 4 weeks after my October one, but for some reason my regrowth seemed far worse.  This picture is 2 weeks after the color.

I did bleach the regrowth for the purple areas, which I don't do every time.  I pulled out my bin of hair supplies and felt like mixing a bit, so I poured mostly Violet Night into the mixing bowl, then added maybe a tablespoon of Purple Haze and a teaspoon of Ultra Violet.   I did the black regrowth the following day, in what can only be described as the world's fastest touch up.

The back of my hair is tucked into the sweatshirt I'd pulled on.  I had been grocery shopping, took off my coat to unload the car, but threw on a sweatshirt and forgot to pull my hair out of the back.  I'm way past due for a haircut.

Thanks for looking.

Fyrinnae Winter 2013 Swatches (plus Scarlet Macaw)

Nothing to disclose, I purchased the items shown. Scarlet Macaw was a free sample.

I jumped on Fyrinnae's Winter 2013 collection and it arrived yesterday.  I tried to take some photos both yesterday afternoon and again this morning, but it's overcast and not good picture taking weather.   I'm going ahead and putting up these two pics, even though neither really show how lovely the shades are, and will attempt photos again when the sun is out.

I didn't crop the first one because Photobucket is being wonky and making things blurry when I crop, so sorry for the picture that looks like I was a mile away.

This one was inside, without Scarlet Macaw.  I was in such a rush yesterday to get a photo for some friends that I didn't even realize I'd put that shade on my arm.  The excitement of Fyrinnae shades can make one lose their mind.

So again, sorry my photos aren't very good, but I hope they help if you haven't ordered yet. I can say I'm glad I ordered minis of all the shades, even though I don't wear some of these colors they may make guest appearances.  I'm also pleased with Nordic Angel blush, and the only thing wrong with Winter Romance is I should've ordered two full sizes and not just one.

Thanks for looking.
