Illamasqua Sob and Urban Decay Quickie swatches

Since I've only recently returned to the world of blush, I don't have many to show you. Here's Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Sob and Urban Decay Afterglow Glide on Cheek Tint in Quickie.

Please note I ordered the Illamasqua direct, so after a trip across the ocean and sitting in my hot mailbox all day, it looks kinda oily. This didn't affect the product though, and has happened with various other cosmetics that have come a long way or been delivered on a crazy hot day. I could've used a stock photo so people wouldn't look at it and go "ewwww!" but let's face it, this kinda stuff happens.

I really wanted Illamasqua's Sob, but Sephora doesn't have it on their website. They do have some Illamasqua, but not all the shades for the items the do carry. ☹ I ordered it direct, along with a new Cream Foundation and Rich Liquid in shade 115, since Sephora doesn't have that either. I did email Sephora's CS, saying I'd love to see it in the future. I got a "form letter" email response that said Sephora carries "thousands of products", and I should "contact an associate for assistance" finding a different product. Thanks, but I don't want a different product.....

I did take advantage of a 20% off sale, so the discount pretty much covered the shipping fees. I'm glad I ordered it, because I love it! It's a "cool candy pink, dewy finish" according to Illamasqua's website. It's really pretty on. I like the cool pink, it seems when I find a nice pink shade that I like it leans warm, which isn't quite right on me. This one is wonderful!

Urban Decay's Quickie - I bought this at Ulta a month or two back. It's a "light pink" shade, which is a tad warmer compared to the Sob. It's nice, but just a bit off for me. I don't think of this one as a cheek tint - it's very similar in feel / weight / coverage (does that make sense?) to the Illamasqua Cream Blusher. I think of a tint as more sheer, more similar to a stain and less like a blush.

I hope you've found these swatches helpful. Thanks for looking!

Tarte Cheek Stain - True Love and Dollface swatches

I picked up True Love a couple of weeks ago and Dollface a few days ago. I've worn True Love a couple of times but haven't used Dollface yet.

True Love is a sheer watermelon shade, and Dollface is a soft pink shimmer. I didn't realize when I snapped the pics that Dollface is really hard to see. I should've drawn a box around it to help, oops! You can see both shades are really sheer, truly a cheek stain. These work well for me on days when my rosacea is a bit more noticeable, it gives me just a hint of color without emphasizing the redness.

I actually bought a second True Love on my recent visit, only because I didn't remember that was the shade I already had. Duh! I haven't opened it yet, so I'll exchange it on my next visit.

Maybelline ExpertWear Eyes Amethyst Smokes and Velvet Crush swatch

I picked up two more Maybelline ExpertWear Eyes quads at Ulta the other day, $4.99 each.

Here's the Amethyst Smoke swatches

The base color is white, shimmery, and not chalky looking on my skin.

The lid color is hard to describe. It reminds me of an old pigment color but I can't think of the name, maybe Cocoa Mauve or something like that? It's a reddish/violet base with blue peeking through, and I swear I see bits of green in there. I'm not sure I like it. I think it's too dark for a lid color, but did use it as a crease color and was satisfied with it.

The crease color is a smokey grey purple, more matte

The liner is a plain old black shade. There was a lot of sparkle in it in the pan, but this didn't show up on my skin :(

and here's the Velvet Crush swatches

The base color is a very light pinkish white, shimmery and pretty.

The lid color is a lovely soft purple shade. I wore it on my lids and it made my eyes look incredibly blue, which was strange! Purple usually enhances my green eyes, but like many green eyed people, my eyes can appear more blue or even grey based on my mood, how I'm feeling, or what I'm wearing. But this made my eyes look distinctly blue, and a pretty shade of blue to boot!

The crease color is a mid toned mauve, slightly shimmery, nice finish.

The liner is a charcoal grey/purple, slightly shimmery, nice finish as well.

While I thought I'd really like the Amethyst Smoke quad, it didn't thrill me. The Velvet Crush shades were a pleasant surprise, so I'm glad I picked it up.

Detrivore Purple Swatches

Some more Detrivore purples for you. Please note Concubine is listed under Blushes, not shadows, on their website.

Detrivore's color descriptions, with my thoughts italicized after

Concubine - Concubine is a faded mauve color. Rather subtle and looks great as an eyeshadow. This color is a matte.
This really does look great as a shadow! It's a great soft purple/pink shade.

Plasma
- a pastel purple matte color.
nice pastel color, but not a wimpy pastel. Nice and bright, really pretty shade.

Gorgon
- Gorgon is a light purple shimmery shade. This color has been reformulated due to changing suppliers.
nice and soft, perfect amount of shimmer. The name makes me think of Gorgonzola, because my son watches way too much Food Network!

Muse - Muse is a light purple shadow with pink and blue tones. Soft and feminine. This color has been reformulated to darken the tone and has more pink shimmer in it. This color contains carmine.
super gorgeous, and yes, soft and feminine. The blue shimmer really peeks out in this, which I usually frown upon, but it's just lovely!

Creature
- a bright purple matte color
everyone needs a great purple matte! It's not too intense, perfect for green eyes.

Endangered - a deep purple matte
This one is more red violet on me than dark purple. I would love this as a nail color!

Scar - Scar is a gorgeous gray purple shade. When applied wet the purple color really pops.
It looks better in person than my pics. Nice finish, good amount of shimmer.

Fluid - Fluid is a purplish blue color that is loaded with pink and purple shimmer. It's a perfect shadow for those that like to sparkle.
This is more blue than I'd normally wear, but the sparkle sure makes it tempting for me!

I hope you've found these swatches helpful, and thanks for looking.

Detrivore Pink Swatches

Some Detrivore pink swatches! Please note that "Spoiled" is actually listed under their blushes, not shadows.

Detrivore's color descriptions, with my thoughts italicized

White Chapel - white glitter color, great for use as a highlight color
This is a nice crisp white, but doesn't look chalky. Good amount of shimmer comes through.

Nameless - light pink glitter color
A pretty shade - I thought it might be too pinky-peach, it's a bit warmer than I'd usually go for but it's not. I wore it Friday and was very happy!

Spoiled - Spoiled is a purplish-pink color. Very dramatic and unreal looking. This color is also a great eyeshadow. This color is a matte.
I've used this as a shadow color but not as a blush. It's a great dark pink/berry shade. I wore this as a crease shade paired with Nameless.

Lotus - bright pinkish purple blend
A good alternative to Spoiled (if you're unsure about using a blush on your eyes), it's not the same color but close. Slightly less "in your face" than Spoiled, not as purple.

Guillotine - a bright pink satin that has red and violet shimmer
This shade is one step closer to red than Lotus, and two steps closer than Spoiled. It's about as red as I get for my eyes. Nice color, good finish.

Death Valley - a bright pink that is very shimmery
Similar to Lotus but slightly more purple, more vivid.

Chainsaw - a dark red color. This color was reformulated to be darker and more shimmery. This color does not contain carmine.
A burgundy/wine shade, good amount of shimmer, looks better in person than in my pics.

I hope you've found these swatches helpful, and thanks for looking.

Maybelline ExpertWear Eyes Mocha Motion

I picked up Maybelline's ExpertWear eye quad in Mocha Motion at WalMart the other day, only $4.99. I really wanted the Amethyst Smoke quad (pictured above, image courtesy Maybelline.com) but they didn't have it. I wasn't sure about these shades - I'm always hunting for good brown shades for a neutral eye but am never really happy with anything.

I wore these shades today, minus the liner shade. I wore black gel liner instead. Although it looked ok, once again, I just wasn't bowled over with the colors. They're pretty, but they're just not me. I ought to just give up this quest for browns but I'm convinced there must be something out there I'll like.

I snapped a few pics of my eyes when I got home from work but it had just finished thunderstorming, and the sky was still pretty dark. Everything came out blurry, and I didn't bother with inside pics. Sorry!

I used TFSI underneath and the colors stayed on really nicely. The base color is a creamy white shade but not quite right on me. I can't put my finger on why, it just wasn't it. The lid color actually surprised me, not bad at all. I didn't like the liner shade, it had an almost green tinge to it.

I do like the idea of the trios and quads, it makes it easy when you don't want to have to think about your shadow and putting together a combo. They're inexpensive and decent quality, so I'll keep my eyes open for the Amethyst quad.

Evil Shades Wicked Gloss swatches

I bought these a while ago (month? maybe longer?) but haven't swatched them. I'm just so not motivated to do anything lately, but more on that later. I did take advantage of some brief sunshine to take an outdoor pic, yay! Outdoor pics really show the shades how they really look, IMO.

Obscurity is one of the Deviant Lipsticks, the rest are Wicked Gloss.

Evil Shades color descriptions, with my thoughts italicized:

Diana's Bow - soft pink with blue sparkle
a really pretty soft pink, super girly

Suffocation - pearly pink with blue shimmery undertone
I love this one. Darker, deeper pink than Diana's Bow, nice hint of blue peeking through. I wear this a lot.

Guilty As Sin
- pink/fuchsia with glass fleck
This is another great shade, applied heavy it's much more fuchsia, but a lighter coat makes it looks just barely reddish on me.

Deadly - deep dark red with sparkle (contains carmine)
I haven't worn this one yet, but it's a really great color on my arm. Remind me to wear this one tomorrow!

Lillian's Light - light purple with multi colored sparkle
In person you can see it's very light purple, just a hint of color. It looks almost clear in the pics though. I like putting this over a lipstick.

Obscurity - inky blue with purple shimmer
looks slightly more blue in person than in my pics, in the pics the purple shimmer really shines through.

Around the same time I received my Evil Shades order with these lippies, I was getting some empty lipstick tubes ready for recycling, and decided an almost 1 year old MAC Dazzleglass had worn out its welcome. I liked the color in the tube but on my lips it appeared clear with just a hint of sparkle (very disappointing, especially since MAC ain't cheap). I wanted to see if I could "empty out" the contents to add this tube to my recycling, so I popped the top plastic piece out of the container and used the applicator to scoop out the gloss. I got some on my hands while wiping the applicator onto a piece of tissue. Ick, the feel of the product on my hands was absolutely disgusting! I washed my hands MULTIPLE TIMES and could NOT get the stuff off. I had never been thrilled with how it felt on my lips, but that was a thin coat. The glob on my hands really freaked me out. My hands felt tacky, sticky, and just plain gross. I sat and thought, now why in the hell would I put this crap on my lips???

I hadn't tried any of these Evil Shades glosses yet. I opened up the clamshells to try them out and was so happy to discover how wonderful they felt on my skin. Super smooth, lightweight, not tacky or icky or anything other than wonderful. I need to order some full sizes of these babies, since there's now more room in my lippy bin.

I hope you've found the swatches helpful, and thanks for looking.

Morgana Shifty Eyed Color Shifting Shadow Swatches

I took these yesterday when I took the Morgana Murder Mystery swatches, a rainy day. Rain = no outside pics, so not the best. Someday this rain will stop....but at least not anytime over the next few days, according to the forecast.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Morgana's color descriptions with my thoughts italicized after:

Changing Chartreuse - appears chartreuse to bright yellow with a violet shift (based on Violet Banana)
This is really much prettier in person, and more vibrant than my pics show.

Lime Shift - bright lime with a green glow that shifts copper, orange, and gold (based on Brilliant Lime)
Super sparkly and a really fun shade.

Enchanted Emerald - deep green that shifts to grey with a copper sheen (based on Enchanted Emerald lipstick)
I'm not a green shadow girl but I could see incorporating this into a look with some of my preferred dark colors. Nice and sparkly, darker green base with lighter green shimmer to it.

Shifting Sky - pale blue with a fiery red-to-gold glow (based on Fire in the Sky)
lovely pale blue, more intense than baby blue but certainly not the pool cue chalk blue your Grandma wore

Mystic Midnight - appears deep blue with blue-green glow shifting to plum
Hmmm, another one I might wear with some black shades, even though I don't wear blue shadow. Really nice shade.

Magic Plum - a reddish plum with an intense sheen shifting aqua to green (based on Plumeria)
Love these reddish plum shades, and this one has the perfect amount of shimmer.

Mystic Lavender - silvery light purple with a subtle sheen of green, silver, and pink shifts
My favorite of the collection. It's so wonderful in person, I know I'll wear this one a lot!

I know these pics aren't great, but I hope you've found them somewhat helpful. Thanks for looking.

Morgana Murder Mystery Swatches

Rain, rain, rain. Rain means not great swatches, indoor pics only, so I apologize in advance for the quality.

Morgana's descriptions, with my thoughts italicized after:

Jaded Peacock - teal with jade and gold sparks.
This is a really pretty teal shade, good amount of sparkle.

Conspiring Copper - bright sparkling copper orange
can't say I'm much of a copper or orange girl, but this is really nice in person. I can see bits of reddish/pinkish shimmer to it.

Secret Passage - plum with a fiery glow of red and orange (based on "Plum Crazy")
you know I love this one! It's not as shimmery as the others, but a beautiful shade.

Sinister Scarlet - muted cranberry with a subtle violet sheen & sparks of silver
I think this would make a great blush!

Ubiquitous Suspicions - lime with intense gold sparks (based on Gilded Lime)
reminds me of inchworms, in a good way. Very sparkly!!

Butler Did It - dark brown with a very intense gold sheen (based on Guilded Brown)
the gold really comes through nicely on this. I'm not a gold/metallic person but I can see a lot of ladies will love it.

I know these aren't great swatches....the forecast for the rest of the week is rain, rain, thunderstorms, and more rain. :( I hope you've found the pics somewhat helpful, and thanks for looking!

Meow Cosmetics Snow Lynx and Inquisitive Siamese swatches

Here's some quick swatches of Meow Cosmetics shades Snow Lynx and Inquisitive Siamese. These are both the Flawless formula.

Photobucket

I applied the foundation really heavy so you could easily see it. Keep in mind the "no flash" pictures really do show the color most accurately. The flash does something weird and throws the colors off.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I haven't worn mineral foundation in a few months, since my skin wasn't cooperating. But after switching to a different moisturizer, it seems I'm now able to wear it. I'm really happy, since I prefer mineral foundation for the hot summer months.

Normally I use a mix of Snow Lynx and Inquisitive Siamese, no precise measurements, just sort of wing it. It's an average of about 50/50. The Inquisitive Siamese looks like it matches really well when I first apply it, but after about 15 minutes or so it's noticeably dark. Adding the Snow Lynx really makes it perfect.

I hope you've found these pictures helpful. Thanks for looking.
