Cleaning Latex Jewelry

I love my latex pieces from ArtWith Designs. They're fun to wear and require minimal care. Here's how I clean my latex:

1) Fill sink with hot water - no soap!
2) Drop in one piece and allow it to soak for about 10 minutes
3) Towel off excess water, then allow 10-15 minutes to air dry

That's all that's required. Pieces will start to get a matte look, which I like. Some of the pieces I prefer shiny, so I go on to step 4.

4) Astroglide!

ArtWith recommends a silicone based shiner (like Eros Bodyglide or Astroglide) or Armor All. Frankly, I won't use Armor All on my car, and I certainly don't want it up against my skin. Astroglide is safe for all body areas (ok, don't stick it in your eye or eat it).

I put a little Astroglide on my fingertips and work it into the piece. It's slippery! I take a paper towel and gently blot off any excess, then put it on a second paper towel and allow it to air dry.

Oooooh, look how shiny!

If you don't have any latex pieces - and don't have any latex allergies, obviously - try a piece! Artwith offers bracelets, chokers, necklaces, pendants, masks, and pasties. They're available in a variety of colors, black, white, pink, green, multi colored. Don't wear latex pieces with copper which will stain the latex, and don't wear latex pieces with leather, which could cause the latex to deteriorate. Light pieces may stain.

Please note pieces should be stored flat in a ziplock bag or plastic storage bin, and OUT OF THE SUNLIGHT. I took the pics in the light only so you could see the detail. ArtWith will replace a piece if it tears, provided you've done your part to care for it properly.

AgonysDecay on Etsy

Kicking myself for not mentioning this lovely seller to all of you sooner..... Miss Jenny, proprietress of AgonysDecay is a sweetheart, makes darkly beautiful pieces, and is an all out great seller.

Her feedback attests to this - over 2500, 100% positive feedback. She's also sold on a few smaller auction sites, Goth Auctions being one, and has over 900 positive transactions there as well. This is one seller you needn't think twice about.

Miss Jenny offers jewelry, cameos, creepy hair accessories, soaps, gift tags, and other spooky items that fit well into many a home, be it year round or just for Halloween.

Sadly, the few items I have purchased from her have all been gifts. Luckily, I did buy a cameo necklace for a swap, but my partner turned out to be a deadbeat so I kept the necklace for myself! I've worn it in a few FOTD's that I've posted but my hair is usually in the way, so you've probably never noticed it.

I love her colored skull & black cat bracelets.

cute little batty soaps!

Soaps can be made in a variety of colors and scents, as well as unscented. The only problem is figuring out which scent you'll want most!

She also accepts custom orders, simply convo her. Check out her shop, you're sure to find something irresistible!

Meow Cosmetics IdealEyes - 4 swatches

Four more Meow IdealEyes swatches for you. These are their "Purrls", a pearlized finish that's a nice step up from matte but not as intense as the sparkly ones.

I took a pic outside with flash but Photobucket isn't cooperating. Sorry!

Meow's Color Descriptions are italicized, my thoughts after:

Purrrfect Stranger - The muted dusty plum that will have you wondering where it's been all your life. It looks like a really ugly shade of brown (no offense!) in the sample baggie, but swatched on my arm really becomes that lovely plum shade they said it would. Another reminder that you can't judge a book by its cover, or a shade based on the way it looks in the baggie.

Claws-trophobic - platinum taupe. This appears sort of coppery/bronze on me, and more medium brownish than taupe. Pretty, would make a great liner.

Carnivore - wine with rich pumpkin hues. Good description - would work really well with any sort of red eye look, especially for you dark eyed ladies.

That Cat! - deep smoke with a sheer plum undertone. This appears more metallic purple on me, great for a dark eye.

Keep in mind how we see color is subjective - and how one color looks on me may look different on you. Take advantage of samples as often as you can, so you won't be disappointed purchasing a full size that you feel isn't quite what you expected. And even better, sometimes you get some nice surprises!

I hope you've found the swatches helpful. Thanks for looking.

Meow Cosmetics IdealEyes - 5 purple swatches

I bought these samples a few months ago but forgot to swatch them. These are 5 purple shades from the IdealEyes collection, which are all "Purrl" (pearlized) shadows. It's a nice finish, a step up from matte, but not as intense as the twinkly/sparkly finishes.

The picture below was WITH the flash. Apologies for any confusion!

Meow's Color Descriptions are italicized, my thoughts after:

Indignant - light soft pink. On me, this appears more light orchid than pink.

Vicious - bright pink/purple. This is a really pretty color in person, much more purple toned, sort of a warm lavender.

Vindictive - light purple with rosy pink undertones. It appears cooler on my skin, a very pretty light purple.

Lazy - light dusty purple/grey. Yup. Perfect description!

Heavy Petting - intense vivid black/purple. In the pictures it does appear very dark, more black than purple, but in person it's the opposite, it's more dark purple. A great shade for lining or a smokey eye.

Hope you've found the swatches helpful. Thanks for looking.
